About this deal

The Plot and Narrative are in another room from the Abuse and then the Gore has one all to itself as well. There is a really well-inserted redemption arc within the story, one involving the man-giant, Rock and his battle of wills versus loyalty and that worked to humanize the events to a degree. An iodine wind blew through the steel fence wires which glinted dully in the grey light of the overcast day. He pushes boundaries and makes the reader want to hide the book in case anyone beside them gets a glimpse at the words. The fears of children are varied and this novelette by Ray Bradbury crystallizes a child and a parent’s fears in a tight, disturbing, trippy story that will send a shiver up your spine.

Claro que sufren por ello, pero si no fuera por tales visionarios, los sufrimientos de todos continuarían en el mismo patrón durante generaciones. I do have to say though, that for me as someone who works with children, the further into the story the more difficult it became as it began to tear my heart apart. There were a lot of characters to get to know and different points of view in the narration to adjust to, but I never really related to any of them. Ray Bradbury may be the master of nostalgia - especially for the coexisting magic and sadness of childhood which he so well shows through the prism of enchantment and loneliness and longing.

No one sees the five children at their secret games or realize how much their family dynamics are changing until tragedy strikes. Esa mirada, según el final de la historia, es quizás una mirada de horror, más que una mirada de madurez. While the adults are absorbed with themselves and each other, the children are left to their own devices. No hay "recompensa" por su tan noble acto, aunque suponemos que Marshall también hizo esto por "el bien de su hijo".

It was just what I was in the mood for, and it kept me turning the pages to see how it was going to play out. Three families’ lives become increasingly intertwined when they meet during tutoring sessions for their children. His iconic works include Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, The Illustrated Man, Dandelion Wine, and Something Wicked This Way Comes.

This is a terrific story and it operates on a number of levels from a man suffering some form of long-term PTSD, through to a King-like 'haunted' playground with its mysterious and devilish keeper. The kids are given equal narrative weight, they're not simply tools of the narrative they are agents within themselves. A well written disturbing story about horrible people making horrible decisions and the life altering consequences that occur. In the story, Charles Underhill is a widower who will do anything to protect his young son Jim from the horrors of the playground a playground which he and the boy pass by daily and the tumult of which, the activity, brings back to Charles the anguish of his own childhood. In The Playground, first published in 1953, Ray has used this unique gift to illustrate both ends of the path – the adult looking back to how scary being a child can be, and wanting to protect that younger self, and also the fright of the child himself.
